Tydavnet Show 2010

Tydavnet Show was held on Saturday, August 21st. There was a big crowd in attendance and an unbelievable amount of activity going on in the Show Grounds.

Many attending would not be conscious of the amount of time, planning, preparation and work which goes in to organising an event of such magnitude but it must be enormous and the people behind it must be congratulated on their organising abilities and their commitment to continue to put on such a day despite the many obstacles of the modern era and the the present economic climate.

Shows like Tydavnet are showcases for rural Ireland and its heritage, both past and present, and it is also an indication of the role of community in our lives - something which is being eroded by the urbanised thinking of our policy makers. Lets hope that Tydavnet Show will continue to highlight the importance of our rural heritage and help to remind people that community must always play an important role in our lives.

We have a little flavour of some of the activity going on at the 2010 Show but it is only a glimpse as an entire site would be needed to do it justice. Hope you see someone you know here.
