Emyvale District Credit Union Ltd AGM 2010

The Annual General Meeting of Emyvale District Credit Union Ltd. was held in the Blackwater Learning Centre, Ballyoisin, on Tuesday, Dec 7th 2010. Due to weather conditions the numbers attending were somewhat reduced from other years but there was still a good turn-out. Chairman, Michael Liddle, conducted the business of the meeting efficiently as the various reports were delivered to the members present. The Auditors, Brenson Lawlor, were represented by Brendan McKenna.

During the meeting Michael Liddle acknowledged the departure of long standing staff member Ann Matthews and wished her all the best for the future.

This was a special AGM as Emyvale District Credit Union celebrates its 50th anniversary. The Chairman stated that the Credit Union has been at the heart of the community in North Monaghan over the past 50 years and has made an enormous contribution to the whole area by providing loans at a competitive rate and giving a fair dividend on savings. The function of the Credit Union has, he said, remained constant and the motto 50 years ago is still today’s motto – ‘Not for profit, not for charity but for service’. The economic situation in our country at the moment is very difficult and members must be prudent in their spending and saving and the Credit Union must play its part in assisting its members to cope with the changing circumstances. Michael Liddle expressed confidence that Emyvale District Credit Union will maintain its strong ties with the community and will continue to provide a thriving service to its members.

At the end of the meeting a draw was held for members present and refreshments were served.
