Rotary Garden

Monaghan Rotary Club negotiated with Monaghan Town and County Councils and have acquired an area beside the Armagh Road Roundabout and have developed it into a Garden. The original design was developed by Emyvale artist, Nelius Flynn, and Errigal Stone completed the practical work on site. Its central piece is the Rotary Logo/emblem and it is surrounded by plants, shrubs, grassed areas and walkways. There is also seating there and it will be an oasis beside, yet removed from, the bustle of life as it passes through the roundabout. It is also an area that is used by pedestrians at all hours of the day and it will be a peaceful and beautiful place to take a rest. The official opening of the Garden took place on Tuesday, June 8th 2010. Rotary members were present and the District Governor. Secretary David Drumm conducted the event and President Peter O’Reilly introduced the project. Speakers included the District Governor, Town Mayor, local clergy, and the unveiling ceremony was performed by founding member Joe Berwick.
