Niall Mellon Township Trust.
Local man, Gabriel McAree, Edenmore, has volunteered to head off to South Africa
in November with the Niall Mellon Township Trust to help with the building programme
there for the local people. It is an idea he has had for some time and decided that
this was the year to do it. He joins a group of over 700 volunteers who will spend
the week doing what is necessary to complete over 100 houses and then hand them over
to the families to whom they have been allocated. It is a worthy cause and a noble
gesture and we wish Gabriel success with his venture. In order to go he has to fund-raise
a total of €5,000. He has already begun the process, which will be more difficult
due to the downturn in our own economy but you can help by even donating a small
amount or by taking part in some of the activities he will organise.
On Friday, July
30 he, with family and friends organised a very successful Table Quiz in the Red
Boys and this has boosted his funds. It was a very enjoyable night for all.
