Emyvale V Clones in semifinal of Junior Championship 2011.

Emyvale played Clones in the championship semi-final in St. Mellans on Sunday, August 14th at 2pm. This game was originally fixed for the previous Sunday but was postponed due to the tragic death of Enda Watterson. However a number of players had planned foreign holidays beginning on Monday 8th and though they went on holiday most of them were available for the game on the 14th. This was a close game and a tough game with no quarter given. It was also a game Emyvale should have won but allowed Clones to control play. During the first half Clones showed the better skills but failed to convert good play into scores. Emyvale came more into the game in the second half but losing a player, James Bellew, to a second yellow did not improve their chances. Also losing Robbie McHugh with a broken collarbone in the first half unsteadied the team. However during the final ten minutes the team played as people might have expected earlier and did draw to within one point of the opposition but time ran out and Clones went through with a scoreline 1 - 9 to Emyvale’s 1 - 8.
