Macra Superstar.
The 2010 Superstar Competition organised by Monaghan Macra was held in the Hillgrove Hotel on Saturday, May 15th. This is the third year fro this event and it is certainly gathering interest as there were competitors entered from Monaghan, Kildare, Meath and Louth. It was another very enjoyable night and the standard of entertainment was very high giving the three judges a difficult task in deciding the top three acts. This accounted for 50% of the vote and the audience provided the other 50% to arrive at the Overall winner and the two runner-up acts. There was a great atmosphere created by the audience for each contestant and it was clear that all the entrants put in some effort in producing the performance.
The three judges were: Derek Wallace, Elaine O’Donnell and Karen McCague.
The contestants were: Dean Woodings; Tullyallen Macra, Co. Louth; Dearan Bogue; Sarah McNerney; Stephanie O’Connor; James Reilly, and Meath Macra.
In the end Dearan Bogue was 3rd, Dean Woodings was 2nd and the title went to Sarah McNerney from Kildare.
Congratulations to Brenda McQuillan, Dearan and the excellent band of helpers who ran the event so efficiently and thanks to the sponsors and especially The Town of Monaghan Co-op and the Hillgrove Hotel.
The night finished with fabulous music from the very popular MGRB.
