On a pitch in Scotstown in excellent condition on Thursday July 21st evening at 7.30pm with perfect weather these two sides battled it out for the victory and it was a tough battle with little between the sides throughout. The Harps edged it for most of the time but there were periods when it looked like Truagh were going to put it together and go on to win. However this committed Monaghan town side came to Scotstown for the Cup and Truagh could just not match their finishing. Too often Truagh lads shot wide when a score should have been added and too often they gave the ball away with over anxious play. The Truagh defence performed very well but the superior power of the Harps forward lines tested them and took some fine long range scores. It was a determined display from the entire forward lines for Truagh but a sound Harps defence led by Robbie healy and Jack Lee held control. Pat O’Connell and Damien McCarron were to the fore for Truagh.
