Emyvale Ladies Club, in conjunction with the Corrigan family, held the annual Gloria Corrigan Tournament in Tully on Saturday July 23rd 2011. The weather was terrific, the crowds were very big, the football was top class and it was a mighty sporting occasion. 16 teams battled it out for the honour of winning either the Gloria Cup or the Gloria Shield, and there were some excellent contests with games running very close all day. Well done to the organisers for the smooth manner in which they completed a very hectic and full programme. In the end, last years Cup winners, St Lawrence’s from Kildare were winners once again and proved their superiority on the day and defeated a very determined and skilful Monaghan Harps side. In the Shield there was extra time to decide the winning team which was Killanny who defeated Truagh by the narrowest of margins. Ellen O’Brien, Emyvale, was winner of the Player-of-the-Tournament selected by the referees. The Corrigan family were on hand to make the various presentations.
