Under 12 Football Finals 2011.

The finals for all the U12 Leagues were held on Saturday, September 3rd. There were twelve in all - six held in Aughnamullen and six in Blackhill. As the northern county teams were involved mainly in Blackhill that is where I spent the day and it was a wonderful feast of football and youthful energy. Though the scoreboard may have shown a big winning margin in some of the games this did not reflect the quality, intensity, and effort of the teams involved.
Truagh were the winners of the Division 1 competition for the Coyle cup - their first ever U12 Div 1 success and it was a great victory with power, skill and determination from both teams but the edge was with Truagh by a very narrow margin over Monaghan Harps. The Harps did have victory in the Div 4 Shield when they defeated a very strong Scotstown side.
Emyvale also had victories, both against Donaghmoyne, in the Div 5 Shield and the Div 1 Shield. Ballybay had a great win after a fiercely fought contest with Fergal O’Hanlons. Well done to all concerned for a great spectacle of gaelic football and that includes the Blackhill club who had everything in fine shape for the occasion.
