Table Quiz in Red Boys for Lorraine.

We normally try to steer away from the bad story or the unhappy story and keep to the positive and good news that is around us. However the story of Lorraine Colleran is very sad and heart-breaking but it also has a very positive aspect.

Lorraine, wife of Jarlath Colleran, Athaboy, Glaslough, had a very serious accident while horse-riding and she has suffered critical injuries to her back and the consequential long term effects. The thoughts, prayers and good wishes of the entire community has gone to her and her family. Beyond that a number of people decided that some practical help and assistance was needed to help the family adjust to the new and difficult circumstances and that has led to a number of community organised events to be held over the next couple of months, bringing the community together is support. It has once again shown the great community spirit that exists and is there when needed.

On Friday, May 21st Peter McMahon, of the Red Boys in Emyvale, held a Table Quiz and he sponsored the winners Prize, ensuring that the entire proceeds of the night went to the fund-raising. This totalled €1,900 and it was handed over at the end of the night. There was a great crowd for the event and Paddy Flood, as Quizmaster, made sure that there were plenty of fun and local questions to entertain and test. There was no clear winner until the final round and that also kept the interest high. The winning team of Denis O’Hagan, Brian McKenna. Kevin Treanor and Martin Treanor, was presented with their award by Peter.

There was also a raffle held and the top prize were tickets for an Ireland game in Aviva Stadium and that was won by Ryan O’Neill.

We wish Lorraine and the entire family every blessing for the months ahead and hope that she will take some comfort from the display of goodwill and expression of support emanating from the community.
