€1,000 Drop

This was a new one for me as I had not seen anything similar on TV. Prior to the off on Sat. August 13th., Sharon showed me how the game works and the ingenious equipment made specially for purpose. There was a big crowd present and when Aiden McCall arrived with minders the scene was set and action began. Eight contestants were given the opportunity to win big money and then two from the results of the half time draw were also given the chance. Unfortunately I had to leave before the end and missed out on a lot of fun and laughter but this certainly is an event which could catch on and provides a great opportunity for laughter with the spectators getting involved. Well done to the Truagh ladies on this innovative fund-raiser and I hope they did well as they had everything organised to a Tee and provided a very enjoyable night in St. Mellans for their supporters. I also got a quick preview of a Booklet brought out by the Ladies led by Margaret Treanor detailing the first decade of Truagh Ladies Football. A great item to have and just for €10 it can be got from any committee member or in the club. Again well done to them for recording their history while things are fresh in peoples’ minds and resources are available. Things like this will be invaluable in years to come.

Above Margaret and Michael Treanor with the History of the last ten years in the Truagh Ladies Football Club. Great book and a treasure for the future. Available from Committee members
