Feile Oriel 2011

Feile Oriel was held in Monaghan Town over the weekend of April 30th / May 2nd. The sun shone, the talented people were in town and the crowds came out to enjoy the top class entertainment. In various places the music echoed from venues and there were street performances too. The Gig Rig attracted the people into the new Diamond and it was an ideal location without any disruption to traffic and the sounds emanating from the stage there displayed a vast array of talented youth. The Ballybay dancers under the direction of All-Ireland champion, Ciara Moroney, made plenty of toes go tapping and were a delight to watch. Great credit to the organising committee for a marvellous programme over the weekend and all done on a limited budget. Of course the Fiddler of Oriel competition was a big attraction and the winners were: Junior - Aoife Cunningham from Cavan and the Senior title went to last year’s winner, Niall Murphy from Armagh. Oisin Power, Ciaran Cassidy, Conor O’Neill and Alan Ryan were all winners in the Poc Fada competition.
