Glaslough Musical Celebrates 30 years.

On Saturday April 17th members and friends of Glaslough Musical Society celebrated 30 years of existence with a Gala Ball in Oakland Recreation Centre. An excellent meal followed by entertainment and dancing was served up and there was a terrific atmosphere for all to enjoy. Members of Glaslough Villa took on the role of Catering and Waiter staff and under the direction of Head Waiter, Johnny, the task was carried out with military like precision. In the kitchen the preparation, cooking and presentation of the food was in the capable hands of an expert staff under Chef Don. After the meal Louise McGhee paid a fitting tribute to deceased members with particular words for Benny Murphy, Sinead Murphy, Gabriel Duffy and Brendan McCann. The audience was then treated to a DVD of clips from the various shows over the years which had been prepared by Colin Colleran and thanks to Murphy Video Services for providing the footage. Some members of the Society then gathered round Packie McGhee and they sang a selection of numbers from shows. The Gene Bannon Trio now took to the stage and had toes tapping, hips wriggling and fancy footwork on the floor until the early hours.

It was a very enjoyable night and our thanks to those who organised and presented the function and to all involved in making it such a pleasant occasion.
