Road Bowls in Carrickroe.

On Wednesday and Thursday, Sept 7th and 8th  the roads around Carrickroe echoed with whoops of joy, shouts of encouragement, roars of laughter, and words of praise while the Championships of the alternative Road Bowls were played out to an exciting climax of intensity and commitment. Rain may have fallen and it did and the wind blew but the competitors were oblivious to weather conditions as they launched that little ball of metal up and down the road looking for the angle to get a clear line furthest along. It was all great fun and enjoyment and after two days all gathered in Carrickroe Community Centre for the presentation of prizes. During the competitions great food was served up to all and great praise must go to the organisers and those who helped with all the arrangements to make this a memorable occasion for all concerned. Clubs were there from Errigal Truagh (the hosts), Clones, Monaghan, Carrickmacross, Madden and other places.
