Senior and U12 Ladies Finals

The Emyvale U12 and Senior teams were involved in their respective county finals on Sunday, September 11th in Rooskey, Monaghan. The weather was far from clement and certainly made good football difficult. In the end both teams suffered defeats. Scotstown were very strong in the U12 game and even though the Emyvale girls tried and gave very committed performances it was in vain as they just could not match the Scotstown form.
The senior game was a repeat of last year against Donaghmoyne and again the Emyvale ladies succumbed to the south Monaghan team. Donaghmoyne has dominated ladies football at this level in Monaghan for a number of years now and Emyvale has always regarded them as a problem team to defeat. Perhaps a psychological barrier has built up here and they need to work on their confidence, or lack of it, when they face Donaghmoyne. It is also good to remember that all teams go in cycles and eventually reach the end of the line. Emyvale needs to be ready to step into the breach when that happens, or even cause it to happen by being even more determined in training and playing. They might also need to look at a strategy that will expose the weakness of the opposition and amplify their own strengths. Having said that all the girls and mentors involved must be congratulated for their success in reaching the finals and hope that the silverware will come very soon.
