Emyvale Fun Run 2011

The Jolly Joggers second annual Fun Run took place in Emyvale on New Year’s Day 2011. The proceeds of the Run go to Monaghan Cancer Treatment Support  as last year. This caters for all levels of fitness as there is a 6Km and a 10Km and you can walk, jog or run or any combination of these. What a great way to begin the New Year. The weather was great for the purpose and as well as runners/walkers there was a big number of spectators.
Thanks to a great bunch of volunteers the work was shared and everything went like clockwork; The marshals on the course; the officials at the start and finish; the ladies who carried out the registration; the ladies who served the refreshments; to all those who supplied food; and a special word to
Malachy McMenamin of Java Republic Roasting Company, who very generously sponsored the coffee, tea, sugar, biscuits, coffee machine, flasks and cups; Murphy Sound and Video; McAnenlys; B.D. Foods; Drumbriston Furniture; Hollands, Emyvale; and the many sponsors for prizes and those who gave donations; Sean McCaffrey; the Gardai; Emyvale Leisure Centre; Dr. Watters; Red Cross; the Emy Belles, members of the Monaghan Cancer Treatment Support group; all who took part and everyone who helped in any way. However no one will be mad at me for singling out Geraldine McAree for the trojan work she does in preparation for this day and on the day itself. She leaves nothing to chance and has everyone on their toes making sure that the event will run smoothly. We must also include her hard working husband, Martin, as he also puts in a great effort to organise the event. We are also told that he gets no sleep on the night prior to the run as she tosses and turns all night.
For now we give you the top placings in each section and photos will be added presently.
