Taste of Monaghan Festival.
The Taste of Monaghan Festival seems to have been another great success as there were crowds in town on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The Church Square area was certainly a busy place and there was a great buzz about all weekend. The restaurants and hotels had good trade and good value for money too. Many people were dining out and discovering some of the delights that can be had relatively cheaply in our town. Gordon Fleming’s message is a very important one and one that we all should heed, for the sake of the county and for our own sakes - it is that we should be very selective in what and where we buy. Food can have a Bord Bia label but one without the tricolour means that it could be bought abroad and processed in Ireland whereas the label with the tricolour means that the food was sourced from Irish produce and processed here as well. So make sure that what you are buying is totally Irish in origin and process - in that way we are helping the local economy and getting the best produce.
