Minor League Final - Emyvale V Rockcorry.
On Tuesday Sept 7th 2010 Emyvale minors faced Rockcorry in the Div 3 Minor Championship
Final in Monaghan Harps Complex at 6pm. This was going to be a close contest and
attracted a big number of supporters from both camps. Three weeks ago these two sides
met in the League final and it ended in controversy when the Referee awarded a penalty
late in the game which Emyvale converted and went on to score the winning point.
It was no penalty according to Rockcorry fans but they did have a chance to level
the match in injury time but sent it wide. However it was expected that they would
make sure of the win on Tuesday night.
From the throw-in Emyvale took control and
built up a lead. Rockcorry was a much weaker team from the League as their main players
were unable to get into the game and their accuracy was wanting. During the third
quarter they made a comeback and clawed their way to within a point. Indeed had they
maintained the momentum they could have turned the game around but Emyvale once again
got the upper hand and reclaimed the control, especially around the middle and held
out for a fine victory.

McKenna, Niall McAree, Stephen treanor, John McAllister, Ryan Nestor, Kevin Meehan,
Blaine Murphy, Nathan Keenan, Enda Callery, Conor McQuillan and Rory Sherry. Management
was John McAleer with selectors Noel McKenna, Arthur Sherry, Malachy McCarey with
Stephen McAree, Carl Murphy and Brendan Keenan assisting with training. Well done
to all involved.
