A Night of Fun and Laughter. Last Saturday night saw the finale of Gaaglebox in the Hillgrove Hotel, Monaghan. This was a fundraising event for Gaeil Triucha CLG. Nine Teams were selected to take their places on the sofa and, similar to the popular TV show Gogglebox, they were then recorded in advance of the final night. Some editing needed to be done to allow for those who had forgotten that they were being recorded, but on the night, it turned out to be a couple of hours of great entertainment for the big crowd in attendance Errigal Group was the main sponsor, and the overall success of the event can be attributed to the many team sponsors and individual donations which came from far and wide. Speaking to club chairperson, Kieran Mc Kenna, he informed me that the Club have a number of development ideas in the pipeline and that they are working with the whole community to identify all of the needs, which will cater for the growing population who now use the facilities at St. Mellans. Kieran highlighted the importance of fundraising and voluntary help which allows the club to progress, and he was particularly happy with the positive response and diversity of the teams who got involved. From the committee’s viewpoint, it was a very successful venture, and the proceeds will be invested in developments for current and future generations. Well done to all involved.
