Truagh lads put on a great performance to defeat Clontibret in the final of the U12
Football League Division 6 Cup competition played in Oram on Saturday Sept 30th.
They went home with the Tierney Cup and it was well deserved as it was a tough game
throughout. I love the underage games as every player will give it everything to
win and this game was no different as the play swung from end to end and plenty of
turn-arounds on both sides. Both teams showed that they had some stylish and talented
players and players who will bring honours to their clubs in the years ahead. They
both had great support on the terraces and stand though at times the blood pressure
seemed to take off into the skies for some supporters. Indeed a couple of supporters
from one side or the other were giving poor example to U12's with some of the shouting
they were at. There should be no place for that at this level. In the end the victory
went to a committed Truagh side and their joint captains, Daniel Lynch and Oisin
Skinnader, were presented with the Cup by Ulster Council Delegate, Brendan Casey.
It was time to celebrate. Congratulations to players and mentors for a deserved victory. Team:
