Spanish Students in Clara.

During ther week ending June 16th eight Spanish students attended St. Patrick's National School, Clara, as part of their tour to Monaghan with the purpose of learning English and experiencing the Irish Education system. This past week was also Bike Week and the school always participates in celebrating Bike Week. Some of the pupils demonstrated some of the things they learned on Bike Handling and Safety. Then, in glorious sunshine, pupils presented the visitors with a gift by which they can remember the school and its personnel. Pablo the teacher then arrived and you can hear a short interview with him by clicking his image below. Two girls, representing their fellow pupils from Spain, then thanked the school in English and in Spanish and the girls all sang a Spanish song. Each of them gave their impressions of their week and all were very complimentary of the welcome they received and friendships they have made. The Clara pupils responded and thanked the girls for coming to their school and said it was a very interesting and enjoyable experience. They learned some Spanish and the girls learned English. It was back to the classroom then and I called in to Ronan's room to find them all working together. It was a great experience for both sets of pupils and it was like one big happy family when I took my leave.

Click on Pablo above to hear the interview and below click on the two girls to hear their words of thanks to all at St. Patrick's and then the group will give you the girls singing a Spanish song.
