Shauna McPhillips, who suffers from the rare condition known as Rett Syndrome, has
made many friends and she met up with some of them during the week when a number
of local footballers gathered to see her. She was accompanied by her sister, Sinead.
The boys were delighted to see her and were given a run down on her condition and
the advances being made at international level to discover a cure. There are about
83 girls in Ireland diagnosed with this condition but because it is so rare it is
difficult to get treatment and the the best type of treatment which will benefit
them most. The hope is that the girls will be able to avail of a cure if one is developed.
Meanwhile Shauna seems to have enjoyed the company of her visitors this week and
thanks to them for calling. The family really appreciates your concern and your assistance.
