Reserve Football C Semi-final V Faughs: Truagh had a home game for this semi-final but it seems a number of vital players were not available and Blayney Faughs were a determined team seeking a place in the final. Both teams began the game untidily but eventually Faughs got their point followed by Truagh and the game was on. However it was the visitors who took control and blasted two early goals though Truagh came back and tried hard to get back on terms. At the interval the score was 3 - 4 for Faughs and 0 - 8 for Truagh. With only 5 points between the sides Truagh were still in with a good chance though their defence was being thoroughly tested by the fast and slick playing of the Blayney attack. As the game progressed the Blayney boys found the net again and again putting the game beyond the reach of the home side and towards the end some of the players gave in. However it must be said that in this second half Truagh went forward in numbers and when a turn-over happened the defence was caught out of position and the keeper was exposed with little protection. The strong wind in the second half was also a factor and the Faughs were well ahead at the end and so go into the final against Scotstown.
