PEI Tour: As part of their holiday in Ireland a group of 25 Canadian visitors from PEI arrive in Sliabh Beagh Hotel on Friday, October 18th for a three night stay. Sliabh Beagh will be their base as on Saturday they head to belfast to visit the Titanic Centre and other attractions befotre returning to Sliabh Beagh for dinner. Then on Saturday night they are in for a treat as they attend Makem’s/Tossy’s Cottage in Derrynoose for a real Irish night of entertainment. On Sunday the group will visit the Giants Causeway and Antrim and Sunday will be their last night in Sliabh Beagh before they head on to other areas in Ireland. I paid a visit to them in Sliabh Beagh on Friday night and they were just finishing a wonderful dinner and were about to join others in the Bar for entertainment led by Peter McKenna. They were all in great spirit and were enjoying their time in Ireland immensely. We hope that these days and the remainder of their holiday will give them a taste on our country and that they go home and encourage others to come here and that they return again to our shores. It is quite possible that some of their forefathers emigrated from these shores in the 1800’s but I was not speaking to any of them who had made a definite connection. However they are from a different part of the Island from where the main body of the Irish from the Monaghan area settled.
