New Years Day Run Page 1 Page 2 Page 3
The 2019 News Year’s Day Run organised by the Jolly Joggers took place as usual and this was the 10th Run and for that reason special Jerseys and medals were handed out to participants. It is estimated that, including the walkers and all runners, over 700 people took part, which is the biggest number for this event and fantastic to see. Events like this are not easily organised and a lot of preparation work has to go in and the members of the Joggers are to be complimented for the way in which they had everything in place. They received help and assistance from a big number of other organisations and individuals and we will have a full list of these when all the bits and pieces have been put together. Similarly the funds raised and the presentation of the money will also be publicised as soon as that takes place. However one man made a huge difference and that was Tommy Bowe. Tommy arrived at the Centre an hour and a half before the starting time and made himself available for signing jerseys and having photos taken and treated everyone with great friendship and courtesy. He was the Official Starter for the event and then was at the Finish Line, along with County and Emyvale GAA Star, Ryan McAnespie, handing out the medals to the finishers. He certainly impressed everyone with his kindly and affable treatment of everyone and we are all so proud of having Tommy as an Emyvale man. We wish him every success in his business ventures and his TV/Radio career. The following were the Race winners: 10K men - 1. Alex Turki, MTR; 2. Sean Husband, MTR; 3. Paul Finnegan (Armagh). 10K Ladies - 1. Ester Dickson, Newry; 2. Barbara Murray, Donore; 3. Tara Malone, 1 Zero. 6K Ladies- 1. Aisling McAnespie; 2. Aoibheann McCormack; 3. Grainne McNally. 6K Men - 1. Conor Maguire; 2. Michael Kerr; 3. Liam McKenna. Our images are in no particular order. Chip-timimng 10K results HERE
