Monaghan Town Survey: Monaghan Town was selected as a centre for Ireland’s Collaborative Town Centre Health Check. The research, conducted on behalf of the Heritage Council and partners as part of the Collaborative Town Centre Health Check Training programme, took place from the 12th October to 23rd November with a sample size of n=408. The outcome of that survey was published in the Markethouse on Friday, July 19th. The Project team was Ali Harvey, Heritage Council; Máire Cullinan, Monaghan County Council; Trevor Connolly, Monaghan County Council; Bryan Cox, Red C Research Director; Mark Curley, Red C Associate Director and John Rogers, Red C Project Manager. The launch was carried out by Minister Heather Humphreys and others present included: Virginia Teehan, CEO Heritage Council; Cllr. Seamus Coyle, Mayor of Monaghan; Cllr Sean Conlon, Monaghan Municipal District Mayor; Senator Robbie Gallagher, Cllrs Raymond Aughey, Paudge Connolly. The Launch was conducted by CEO Monaghan County Council, Eamon O’Sullivan. It is a very interesting publication and worth reading. Some surprising things came out regarding shopping in the Town and what importance poeple on certain services. It was nice, on a personal level, to see that a number of people referred to the lack of services in Monaghan general Hospital and some disappointed that more people are not using the facilities there. If you get a copy from the Council it would be worth comparing your own responses to those given by the 408.
