Joggers Quiz 2017

The annual Jolly Joggers Quiz was held in the Redboys on Friday September 22nd and a full house enjoyed ten rounds of ‘good questions’ with a few tricky ones thrown in here and there. Yours Truly was the quizmaster. Prior to the start a period of silent reflection was held in memory of Annamarie Colton RIP and Gary Askin RIP. Phones were then put away and the questions began. At half time it was anyone’s game as at least three quarters of the teams were still close to full marks. Mary and her staff then served up a tasty supper which all enjoyed and we thank her very much for that. Meanwhile Peter and his staff were looking after the liquid requirements and keeping everyone happy. The second half continued as the first with little difference in the score placings. The Puzzle Round kept everyone engrossed and then it was back to the last three rounds of questions and even going in to the final round the outcomes was far from decided. In the end the winning team had lost only 1 Mark out of the 100 questions/pictures/puzzles, which was a terrific result but there were eight teams with 90 marks or more which made it a great contest.  Well done to Jimmy, Peter, Gene and Laurence. During the interval there was a raffle for a host of prizes and the Joggers wish to thank the following for their donations of prizes or money: Colleran Family; Ann Matthews; Maeve Hackett; Glaslough Musical Society in memory of the late AnnaMarie Colton; Monica Flood; Bernie Woods, McSorley Pharmacy; Utopia Beauty Salon; Margo Hairdresser; Ann McMahon; Nora McCabe; Geraldine McAree; Martina Duffy; Angela McQuaid; Yvonne McQuaid; Sara McCrudden;  Truagh Special Needs; Elaine Hagan; Eilish Connolly; McGonnell Family; Mary Treanor; Elaine McGonnell; Emy Belles; Una McAree; Redboy; Denise McKenna; Mary McConnon; Brendan Treanor; Vincent McQuaid; Sandra McQuaid; Gerry McCarville; Peadar and Una McGee; Brigid McAree; Fran Boyle; Combi Lift; Sabrina Treanor. All in all it was a very successful  event and the proceeds will cover all the expenses arising from the New Year’s Day Run in Emyvale so that all funds raised by the Run will go to the Monaghan Treatment Support Group.
