Heritage ProjectI had a very enjoyable day on Monday as I participated in a Heritage and Biodiversity project involving pupils from Glaslough NS, Monaghan Co.Co. and Sandra McQuaid and Paul Sherlock from Monaghan Co. Co. Heritage section. I was asked to attend their visit at Donagh Old Graveyard and tell them some of the history attached to the graveyard. To do so as a background I had to talk about the McKenna Clann, the McKenna Cross, the McKenna Grave, the McKay family and the Delaney family and its connection with Prince Edward Island. Paul then gave them a lesson on Biodiversity in which they got very involved and enjoyed the event. We all then retired to Glaslough Community Centre for some food, which was enjoyed by all followed by a Table Quiz which included questions on some of the information which Paul and I had communicated to them in the Graveyard. There was also a picture Round and a Puzzle Round and again the pupils were all involved and enjoying the Quiz. There were prizes for the winning team and also prizes for the Most Involved Pupils in the Heritage and the Biodiversity. I was very impressed with the clear enthusiasm and engagement of the pupils throughout the exercise and hopefully it will encourage them to further their interest and knowledge in Heritage and Biodiversity and I would like to thank them for the excellent manner in which they behaved and the interest they showed all during the presentations. I would also like to thank Sandra and Paul and the school authorities for allowing me to be involved is such a programme.
