Harrier Awards Night: The Glaslough Harriers held their Annual Awards Night in Castle Leslie on Thursday February 21st 2019. A big crowd of athletes and their families turned out for a very efficiently run and very enjoyable event. Food was served and all enjoyed the very tasty array of snack bites presented by the Castle staff. It was then down to the business of the night as Brian Finn, chairman of Glaslough Harriers, got the presentations underway. He first of all thanked the Castle Leslie staff and a list of others who have sponsored and assisted with the running of the club during the past year. He congratulated all the athletes in the club with special words of praise for those who succeeded in winning prestigious awards at Ulster and All-Ireland levels during 2018. He then called on Castle Leslie manager, Kevin Kenny, to present the prizes to the winners. As he called their names he listed the various achievements of each athlete and that was a very impressive list. The winners certainly deserved the recognition and well done to the Committee and the coaches, without whom the club and the members could not carry on the terrific work and benefits the club brings to the area. The list of winners included: Eoghan McCaul, Grace McGarvey, Liam McKenna, Matthew Connolly, Eoin McKenna, Jack Murphy, Rachel Callery, Kaylin O’Hanlon-Geary, Harry Murphy, James McQuaid, Matthew Finn, Ava Ross, Aoibhinn McCormack, Cian McKenna, Thomas O’Hanlon-Geary, Padraig Kelly, Damien Treanor, Owen McNally, Conor Duffy, Amy Hamill, Emily Brennan, Aimee Brennan, Emma O’Hanlon-Geary. Some of these were unable to be present.
Noel, Bernie and Claire above collected awards for those unable to attend.
