Frank McKenna’s Annual Run: Frank organises an annual run at Emy Lake with the proceeds going to Truagh Special Needs. The high regard with which the people of North Monaghan hold the Special Needs Unit and the work that it does for so many is always demonstrated by the great support for it and Frank’s Run is one of those times as was proven on Sunday May 5th. It was well attended and there was a great atmosphere, assisted by dry but cold weather. There was a choice of 5k or 3k Walk/Jog/Run with both distances including the beautiful walkway arund the Lake. On arrival back at base each entrant got a Medal and there was an opportunity for a chat while enjoying refreshments. It was noticeable that there was a big family turnout and the young people enjoyed the challenge and were justifiably proud of finishing. Kevin Woods and Myles McMeel were 1st and 2nd in the 3k. In the 5k U16 bracket Ryan Kelly was first followed by Darragh Maguire and Aine Maguire. The Ladies 5k had joint winners in Carmel Finan and Jackie McKennawhile in the male section Gareth Keenan came home 1st followed by Karl McMeel, Matthew Flood, Shane Treanor, Christy Flood and James McKenna. Well done to all who participated amd those involved in the organisation - a job well done.
