Festival Thursday

Carrickroe Festival 2018 kicked off with a great start on Thursday night when a fantastic line up of talent entertained in the Marquee. It was almost a full house and each and every person there had to enjoy the singing and the music of the slick programme compered by Sean McCaffrey. The first act set the scene and had the hands clapping and the feet tapping and the smiles on every face - that was local man Willie McCarthy. Barry Kirwan from Omagh was a big hit as was his Dad, Dominic, lovely personalities and great performers. Susan McCann, Gloria and John McIntyre are seasoned entertainers and they used their charm and talent to get the audience singing and swaying with them. New comer and local man, Aiden Clerkin, performed like a true professional and was very impressive and sure to go far. Top of the bill was Robert Mizell and lucky to be there as he had had a fairly serious collision on his Motorbike the previous day and was carrying injuries but 'the show must go on' and he raised the roof with his choice of songs and his polished performance. I must say a special word about the members of Robert Mizell's band as they played the backing music for all of the entertainers and were on stage all night. This was not an easy task but they provided excellent backing like the true professionals they are. Well done boys and well done to all involved. It was a fantastic line-up and a great night.
