Emyvale V Corduff: Emyvale played Corduff in the Intermediate League in Tully on Sunday May 12th. The record for the year so far needed a boost with a win, as they had won one game and drew two and lost two to date. However they were up against a strong Corduff side lying 4th in the league tables. Conditions were ideal for a good game and this was a battle of a game from the throw-in. Both sides gave it their all in most section of the pitch but the home team looked in control after a shaky start. A number of the team may have been tired and slow to get into the game but there were a number of excellent chances missed as they should have had at least three more points on the scoreboard by the interval. As the first half progressed they were gradually showing a bit of style and good team work and a win looked likely. After the break things began to go down hill. Stupid mistakes, poor passes, and more missed chances but unfortunately indiscipline was the biggest problem. Tempers flared and the game became untidy and good football was not there. Emyvale were reduced to 14, which added to the problem and put extra pressure on defence and added to the workload of the players who were trying hardest. Coming near the end a draw looked a likely result but Daniel McMahon, who had a man-of-the-match performance, sealed victory at 2 - 10 to 1 - 12 with a magnificent lead up and a fantastic point, achieved under great pressure. Emyvale made it very difficult for themselves and panic was evident in some of the displays but it was a victory and with 11 points total they lie in 7th place on the Tables.
