Medal Presentations: On Saturday night, February 9th 2019 the members of the Emyvale GFC Junior Championship winning team of 2018 were presented with their medals and management given a memento of the win. A big crowd gathered in the Scarna Inn. where, thanks to Fabian, the DVD of the Championship Final was showing on the Big Screen. After this it was time for a wholesome supper served by Audrey and helpers. Chairman of the Club, Enda O’Brien, introduced the presentations after giving a brief resumé of the path to the final and the final itself and he congratulated all for their dedication, commitment, talent and effort. He also expressed the club’s appreciation to the great sponsors of the Club. Garrett Coyle, representing Monaghan County Board, was present to make the presentations as Enda called them forward: Gerard McCaffrey, Sean McMeel, Aaron Loughran, Ciaran Connolly, Greg Devlin, Ryan McAnespie, Ryan Kelly, Colin Hughes, David McAllister, Robbie McAllister, Gareth McQuaid, Jonathan McCarron, Gavin McKernan, Daniel McMahon (Captain), Eoghan Treanor, Paul McCarron, Ben McKenna, Jack Kelly, Karl McQuaid, James McKenna, Conor McQuillan, Seamus Downey, Colm McKenna, Christopher Kerr, Pauric Duffy, and Emlyn McGee. Unable to attend were: Stephen Askin, Michael Flannery, Rory Sherry, James O’Neill, James McKenna, Shane McCarron, Darragh Boyle and Michael O’Brien. The management team of Padraig Treanor, Nicolas McMahon, Declan McGarvey, Raymond Kelly, Paddy Hughes (Trainer) and Declan Loughman (manager) received their mementos. Unable to be present was Stephen McAree. In reply Declan Loughman thanked the club and told how he became involved. He had enjoyed the year with the team and was delighted with their response to his encouragement and that the year nded with silverware. He thanked the members of the management team for their committed and dedicated work in the jobs they had been assigned to. He looked forward to the coming year and its challenges. Former Chairman, Eamonn McKernan, spoke of his pride in the team and management for their achievement in 2018 and urged them to continue to strive for more success. he expressed his thanks to those who had assisted and supported him during his three years in office singling out a few who went beyond the call of duty for the club during his reign. On a final note Enda thanked everyone who helped to organise the night and mentioned James McKenna of the Scarna Inn in particular for his continued support. It was a very enjoyable event with a strong sense of camaraderie in the room and a good bond existing, which can manifest itself in the play on the field to great advantage. We look forward to another exciting year.
The Emyvale Club brought joy to others last week when Margaret Kivlehan from Cootehill checked to take home the €4,200 jackpot at Thursday night Club Bingo in Emyvale Leisure Centre. Below we picture Margaret receiving the cheque from Jim McCluskey, Lotto Committee; Aisling O’Brien, Bingo Committee; Carmel McCarthy, Margaret’s friend; Nicholas McMahon, Bingo committee; and Enda O’Brien, Club chairman. We also have a picture of George congratulating Margaret and wishing her well.
