Deravoy National School Football Success: 2018 has been a very good year for the GAA in Truagh parish with a number of fine victories bringing plenty of Silverware to the North County area. Recently the Truagh Senior Mens team had a great win in the Senior League bringing the Owen Ward Cup home and prior to that Deravoy NS won their section in the Cumann na mBun Scol competition for Primary Schools. On Thursday december 6th the players from Deravoy had a celebration and invited their past pupils who were members of the Senior winning team to join them in the school. As it was during the day Ryan Mohan and John McCarron were unable to attend due to other commitments but Pauric Treanor, Aiden Coyle, Gary Mohan, Adam Treanor, John Treanor, Niall Coyle (captain of the Senior team) and Cormac Coyle were there. Niall presented the medals to tje members of the School team and in turn the School captain, Luke McKenna, presented the Senior players with framed certificate of appreciatiomn as shown below. Principal. heenagh Currie conducted the ceremony and intorduced the various performers as pupils sang and recited poetry in memory of the finals. There was a presentation to Brian McKenna, the school team Coach and to Lorraine McKenna, Class teacher. It was a lovely event and one that will remain in the memory of all involved, especially the young players who would now hope to one day come back after winning a senior title. Niall Coyle encouraged them to continue playing and training and told them that with perseverance the success will come.
Gaeil Triúcha Welcome back!  Fáilte romhaibh ar ais. To the Truagh senior team who gave it a lash. It was the 18th of November.  A day to remember After a 43 year gap you were gonna give it a rap! Blayney was the place where this team was going to ace. Carrick was the team but Truagh dared to dream! Ar nós na gaoithe they ran fought hard man to man Some cúilíní agus cúil kicked by boys from our school. There was John Mc Carron and Niall Coyle, John Treanor and Aiden Coyle Pauric Treanor and Ryan Mohan, Adam Treanor and Gary Mohan There was Matthew Flood and Cormac Coyle. They all helped to make Carrick boil They played their best and used their skills after lots of training on the Bragan hills. Díograis agus dúthracht.  Fuinneamh agus crógacht Then joy and jubilation, delight and celebration. Gallant Captain Rory, his face started to beam As he received the Owen Ward Cup to a massively deafening scream. So we honour our club and the past pupils of our school Ár laochra, our heroes too Agus screadaimis Triúch abú!
The 2018 Deravoy Football County Champions It was a Saturday morning And our tummies were churning We were heading to the final The excitement was palpable. Deravoy i goinne Donaghmoyne Friends and families we were gona join. We prepared for the match And this trophy we were going to catch. Our boys lined out in style But with a nervous smile. They had a job to do No time to think or chew. They ran their hearts out Up and down the field. To the opposing team They didn’t plan to yield. It really was a team effort Whether from Dane, Donnacha, Ciarán or Dermott. Conor T. and Conor K. All was bound to be OK. Cathal, Neil, Ryan and Jamie too Neither Myles or Daithí were going to get into a stew. All were in the boiling pot Captain Luke and that’s the lot! Ag deireadh thiar thall The final whistle blew Relief on all the faces. And we all shouted PHEW! The proud captain made his address As Gaeilge and impressed. He thanked the management and the mentors. Teachers, parents, families and supporters. It has been such a huge boost Now that the cup has come home to roost. Back at home in Carrickroe And so we all say Deravoy …..Go!!!!!! Well done boys! Maith sibh a bhuachaillí!
