Crocus Run 2018

Despite the biting cold weather and other attractions and the Town Parade starting an hour earlier the people came out in force to support the now annual Crocus St. Patrick's Day Run/Walk. All age groups were well represented and even though it was cold the dry weather meant that people could stand along the route and watch the daring and the brave pass by - some at racing pace and others at a stroll. Many had the family with them and it was great to see the participation of the youth. There were prizes for the first three males and first three females to cross the Timing Clock line in the Diamond and they received their presents after the race. All who went back into the Spy Nightclub, the headquarters for the race, enjoyed the much appreciated Tea/Coffee with buns and biscuits. The organisers then presented a cheque of €2227.00 to Crocus which was the money donated by those participating. Raymond Aughey also presented a cheque for €1950.00 to Crocus, which had been raised at a New Year's Eve party in the Squealing Pig. So all in all it was a good day for all concerned.
