Wild Child Day:
Go Wild on Wild Child Day was organised by Monaghan Heritage Committee of the County Council to offer an opportunity to young people including the very young, to experience the outdoors and discover nature. A host of activities such as pond dipping, electric fishing, nature walks and face painting as well as meeting cuddly animals and dancing to the disco was ongoing and from appearances - they were all enjoying it fully and even the adult members were enjoying the fun too. It was a great learning experience as well as fun and members were there to explain things and answer questions. Refreshments were available to purchase but many brought their own picnic and enjoyed eating out-of-doors where the appetite is much better. The Civil Defence were on hand if needed and even though the weather was not perfect no one seemed to notice and the ‘wildnest’ continued. A great idea and a great day - so well done Heritage committee.
