Vigil Mass in Corracrin for Christmas 2011
One of the things I always like about Christmas is the ‘Midnight Mass’ or the ‘Vigil Mass’. There always seems to be a peacefulness and relaxed atmosphere and, despite what temperatures we have outside, there is a warmth inside and in people’s hearts. This year was particularly nice though we missed our Parish Priest, Fr.Hubert, and our thoughts and prayers were with him. However we had a wonderful liturgy with plenty of participation. Everyone did their parts very well and the singing was exceptionally good. Well done to all those involved there. Fr. Macartan was our celebrant and he added immensely to the occasion. His words during the homily were very meaningful and though-provoking. His theme that ‘less is more’ was so apt in our current circumstances. He encouraged us all to accept less and lower our expectations and we would have more time for others and other things, which are more important but which may have been neglected with the boom times. He wished us all a very Happy and Peaceful Christmas and on your behalf I would like to convey to him the same wishes from all of us.
Below you can click on the various links (pictures) and hopefully you will be able to hear some of the contribution from the Choir. Silent Night was sung in the English language, in Lithunian by Dzindra McConnon, and Gaeilge.
