Trip to Carousel: The bus to ‘Carousel’ will pick up people this Saturday 17th November at 8.30am in McNally’s car park opposite the shopping centre. Poems and Pints: The first evening of ‘Poems and Pints’ was a great success with poems read, some original, others well known, and much chat and a few pints. Maggie Charlie’s pub in Ballinode is the venue for the next meeting on Thursday 15th November starting around 8pm. A light hearted evening is promised where those interested can bring along their favourite poem(s) to read or recite. So now is the time to look up that old poetry book or search on the internet for a favourite poem. Maybe you have a self- penned composition, bring it along and give it an airing! If you haven’t got a poem, come along and join in the fun. Monthly Speaker: Pharmacist, Gerry Lynch of Dolan’s Pharmacy will give us a talk on off the shelf drugs. Friday 30th Nov at 11.00 in Gortakeegan, soccer club is the date and venue. Come along for a very informative and interesting talk. Tea/Coffee will be provided. Best wishes to the Spanish class on their trip to Santiago next weekend Christmas Coffee Morning: Thursday, December 6th in St. Joseph’s Pastoral centre is the date and place for our annual Christmas Coffee morning. It all begins at 10.30am and we hope to have a good turnout for this very sociable event. ‘Making a will won’t kill you!’ This is the interesting title of a presentation that will take place in St. Patrick’s Church Hall on Tuesday 20th November at 7.30pm. Organised by the St. Patrick’s Ladies group, this will be a jargon free presentation by Anne O’Carroll BCL. There will be a Q and A session, handouts and refreshments. Cost is 5 euro, payable at the door.  U3A Travel Vouchers: Now with Christmas coming you may want to give a friend in the U3A a gift but are stuck for ideas. Well here is an idea, we have printed gift vouchers that can be put towards a trip or event in the U3A. If you wish to get a voucher, text Mary on 0868047575. Vouchers will be available to buy at the Coffee Morning on the 6th December. Coffee and Craic: Every Wednesday in Smithboro’ hall around 3.00. Drop in for an informal coffee or tea and a chat. All welcome. Book Club: The next meeting is in the Four Seasons hotel on Thursday November 29th at 2.30pm. The book for this month is ‘Anything is Possible’ by Elizabeth Strout. Books are available in the library for anyone interested in joining the U3A Book club. Age Action Computer classes: Age Action and St. Macartan’s College TY boys are running a beginners’ course in computers, ipads and tablets. Courses begin on Thursday 22nd  November and runs for four weeks until 13th December. For further information call into the Age Action shop, Glaslough st. Pilates: Pilates class takes place on Tuesdays at 3.30 and taught by Jeanette Keenan. This takes place in Gortakeegan. .  Bring your own mat or towel . We also have a Flexibility class on Thursdays in the Gym club, Milltown, at 9.30am Walks: The walk on Wednesday, November 21st is in Dernasell West.  Meet at Maggie Charlie’s, Ballinode, at 10.00am or Knockatallon school at 10.30. Coffee Morning, every Thursday, around eleven, in Graham’s Coffee shop. Flower Arranging continues on November 21st and December 5th  in Gortakeegan. Classes are now full. Social Dancing: The Social Dancing class has been postponed until after Christmas. Trip to the Dail: We hope to organise a trip to the Dail for Thursday 22nd November. Numbers are limited to 30, so if interested please text 0873432275 with your name and details. Please mark it Dail. The date above is a proposed date, we will let you know if there are any changes. Beginners and advanced welcome.  Pilates 3.30-4.30 Wednesdays:  Art with Celia Richards from 2.30 -4.30 Flower Arranging: 2.00-4.00 Spanish 2.30 in Andy’s bar. Yoga: In the Crocus centre at 4.00pm Cards in Tydavnet Community centre at 8.00pm Thursday: Flexibility and fitness, Gym club, Milltown Business park at 9.30am.
