Emyvale U14's Win Double

On Tuesday, September 5th, in Cremartin Emyvale stamped their authority on the U14 Division 2 age group GAA competitions in Monaghan for 2017 by winning the Double. They had already won the Championship in Division 2 and then followed this up with a great win - 4-11 to 3 - 6 - over Latton on Tuesday evening. The rain fell before the game making conditions very slippery and Latton seemed to adapt to the wet faster than Emyvale. However in the second half Emyvale turned on the power and there was no doubt about the final outcome by the three-quarter stage. Latton fought bravely to the very end and were unlucky for a few goal opportunities and also by the nice saves by the Emyvale keeper. Just before Half-time it looked like Latton were going to take control but whatever the mentors had to say at the interval Emyvale came out a more focused team and a couple of star players put Emyvale in a good lead and there they stayed until referee, Brendan McNally blew the final whistle. Well done to the squad of players and to mentors for a great win. Team: Darcy Colleran, Luke Cawley, Pauric McQuaid, Ben Sherry, Darragh Sherry, Caolan McKenna, Luke Aughey, Rio Corrigan, Luke Kelly, Michael Hamill, Declan McKenna, Aiden McKenna, Caolan Treanor, Matthew Curley, Dylan Sherry, Mark O'Donaghue, Daithi McKenna, Gary Treanor and Jake Hughes. Mentors: Brendan Stewart, Gareth McQuaid, John Hamill, Paudie O'Donaghue, Barry Sherry. First Aid: Enda Sherry.
