Tydavnet Show 60th Celebrations

The 2011 Tydavnet Show was the 60th in the history of the event and it was held in glorious sunshine and has been stated as the ‘Best one yet’. The organising committee has always been anxious to add new and attractive items to the show and it has one of the reasons that this Show has maintained a very prominent place in the minds and hearts of the people of Monaghan and beyond. The Committees over the years have been dedicated community people and despite many obstacles at times have continued the tradition begun in 1950. On Saturday, November 12th 2011 a celebratory function was held in the Sliabh Beagh Hotel at which committee, friends and supporters enjoyed food, comedy, prizes, music, song and dance. Thanks to all who make the Show happen was expressed by current President, Peggy Treanor; Seamus Sherry conducted the raffle and Gerard Sherlock was Master of Ceremonies. A hilarious comedy interlude was presented by Brendan Smith from Athboy, a Macra friend of Gerard Sherlock. A Raffle was also held, proceeds of which go to the Childrens Hospital, Crumlin, and a copy of Emma McCarron’s CD was presented with each purchase of tickets. All in all it was a fitting celebration of 60 years of service to the community through the Tydavnet Show.
