Presentation to Special Needs
Errigal Truagh Special Needs has been running on a shoestring from its launch in
2001 and were it not for the generosity of the community and the business sector
it is difficult to see that they would have been able to provide the continuous excellent
service to its users and their families. Last year their subvention from Government
(HSE) was cut and this put a real strain on resources but once again the committee
was able to manage but just about. To achieve this cuts and reductions and savings
had to be made which indeed reduced the level and variety of service offered to its
users. Now this year 2012 they have to face a further cut of 5% and to come within
this reduced budget can only be achieved through further cuts in what the group can
do. However they hope and pray that the generosity of the community will help to
sustain them through these tough times and that they will be in a position to continue
with the marvellous work they are doing. Their spirits were raised on Wednesday of
this week when Helen Steele, who has been a great supporter of the Centre, arrived
with a donation for the funds. She was accompanied by Eugene McKenna, manager Silverhill
Foods. They Committee is extremely thankful to Helen and also to Silverhill Foods
for that support.
However it is a long way to December 31st 2012 and I would suggest
that the Errigal Special Needs Centre be kept in mind when any individual or group
is looking for a worthy cause as every little helps and I know that the Committee
can make a small amount go a long way.
