Talk Sport for Shauna
The Talk Sport for Shauna event was held in the Hillgrove Hotel on Sunday, May 6th
and it was a terrific success and went beyond our expectations. The crowd was about
510, which could have been bigger, judging by ticket sales, but the quality of the
contributions by the various guests were top class and the panel was a big hit with
the audience. Our own Brenda McAnespie, Dolores Hughes and cousin Darren were excellent
and the crowd loved them.
There was quite a large sum donated over and above the ticket
sales and that was welcome as the purpose of the night was to replenish the funds
in the Trustee Fund for Shauna. Over the past year the fund has been able to ensure
that the family was in a position to get the therapies for Shauna, which should increase
the quality of her life and this has happened. The physio and other activity means
that she is now walking again independently and this is terrific progress though
that ability could regress again at any stage. A big thank you to everyone who helped
out in any way and to everyone who supported it. A special thanks to Murphy Video
services and to Panic Hire, who with their technology ensured that everyone could
see and hear all the guests and also to the Hillgrove Hotel, who hosted the night.
