Scotstown V Derrygonnelly in Ulster Club:
Scotstown disposed of their first opponent in the Ulster Club Senior Football Championship in Clones on Sunday last. This was a tough and hard hitting contest but one where Scotstown took control in the second half and ensured victory with a scoreline of 2 - 17 to 1 - 11. The Fermanagh champions and their supporters came with a quiet confidence and for a while looked as if they were going to take the victory but once the Scotstown machine got into top gear it was ahopeless task for them. This was a good scotstown team effort but the scoring and play by a number of players signalled intent on going further in Ulster this year. The fact that nine players were recorded for scores says a lot about a team and the Hughes Brothers, Shane Carey, Orin Heaphy, Conor McCarthy with keeper, Rory Beggan getting 2 from frees and other players like Damien McArdle and Jack McDevitt and Ross McKenna playing their part there was no escape for Derrygonnelly. However I was very impressed by the performance of Ryan O’Toole during this game and he is a name that you are bound to hear more of in the time ahead. As I say it was a terrific team effort and all were on form and had a single purpose in mind. Towards the end it got a bit raggard and frustration set in and tempers rose to boiling point which takes away from the game as an enjoyable spectacle and I could be critical of some aspects of the  game but Scotstown held their heads and deserved the win.
