It seems that the names below is as close as I am going to get in my attempts to get all the names. Anyhow I will leave it on this page for a few more weeks if anyone else can help. Thanks to all who contacted me regarding it. It was nice to hear from you and especially those who are far away from home. Best wishes to you all.

Mullan Mill Staff:

Great response to this photo and Nancy McCluskey was first to get all the names in to me. They are: Front L to R: Dympna O’Hanlon (Treanor); Mary Smith; Margaret McKenna (Deery); James Boylan Sr.; Moira O’Hanlon (Mulligan). Back L to R: Pat Murray; Harold Smithson and Sean McEntee. Thanks Nancy.

We received very few efforts at naming these people but we are satisfied that the two musicians are (on left) Gerald Quinn and Owen Treanor on the right, with Mick Flood on the right of the picture - that is unless you know differently. Now Seamus McCluskey was a member of this Band and wrote a very interesting story (true) about the Band and had it aired on RTE radio some time ago You can read the Band story HERE

We did not get final resolution on this one either as there is no agreement on a couple of the players: Back L to R: Sonny Treanor; Tommy O’Neill; Willie Harvey; Benny Connolly; Packie Deery; John Farmer; Francie Treanor; Johnny McKenna. Front L to R: Seosamh Fields; John Connolly; Johnny McAree; Malachy Corrigan; Kevin O’Neill and no one is quite sure of this person. If you can help get in touch.

Gerard, would you agree with the names above?

Only three people responded to this photo and thanks to them but even with that we only got three names. Of the four in the front row from left we are told Barney Treanor, Peter Loughran, unknown and then the tall figure of Peter ‘Myles’ Treanor. Peter was a prominent figure in Bands and was a drummer in the Monaghan Community Brass Band but this is an old Davagh Band.

This was taken by my mother at the baptism of Michael McKenna, Markethouse Lane, in Ballyoisin. His godparents were Mick Kelly and Patricia Kelly (Sheehan) with Nurse McGreevy the midwife. From what I hear she was a very strong woman but you may ask Mickey about that!

This was the Venturers Showband which was at the top in its time. Padraig McElwaine, Brian McDonald, Bill Rice, Anthony and Colm Hughes, Malachy Columb, Brendan Sherlock and Sean McKenna.

The Band above was the Mellowchords and the members are as follows: Back -Malachy Columb (trumpet), Sean McQuaid (drums), Sean Columb (guitar and Vocals). Front - Willie Lavery (saxophone), Eilish Steveley (vocals), Jimmy Barney Pheadar (Fiddle and accordion), Pete McKenna (Delavey) (guitar and vocals).

Jim Hughes and Packie McCaffrey in the Rambling House.
