Forde Cup 2009.

The Forde Cup was presented to the Emyvale Club by the Forde family in memory of Val Forde, who died as a result of a drowning accident in Emy Lake on August 14th 1964. Val was a magnificent footballer and played for Monaghan minors and U21s. He would have been a terrific leader in our Club but for his untimely death. The original cup was mislaid for a number of years and a new cup was purchased but recently the original was uncovered and so there are now two Forde Cups and there is a competition for the girls as well as the boys.

The entire Forde family have given such a major contribution to Emyvale and the Emyvale GAA that it would be impossible to estimate it in any terms and all we can do is say ‘Thank you’.
