It is with regret that we record the death of Kathleen McAree of Edenmore.  Kathleen was a lady full of life and full of living and entered hospital on Sunday, Feb 8th for surgery and was in a very positive frame of mind. She came through that successfully but then complications set in and even with two further visits to theatre, Kathleen gave up her struggle on Friday afternoon.

Kathleen’s remains were brought to her home on Monday afternoon,(the delay was due to the wait for the post-mortem to be carried out).

People came in huge numbers to sympathise at the house and a massive crowd attended the funeral on Tuesday morning.

The cortege then left the house for Requiem Mass in St. Mary’s Glennan. Celebrant was Fr. Hubert Martin PP and he conducted a beautiful ceremony, a fitting tribute to Kathleen. Family members were involved in the liturgy and members of Tydavnet, Glennan and Corracrin choirs sang appropriate hymns with organist Paula McAree. Psalmist was Mary Kehoe.

After Mass the remains were brought to St. Patrick’s Corracrin for burial.

We offer deepest sympathy to Kathleen’s ten children, their families, her two sisters and brother, her many relatives and extensive circle of friends.

May she rest in peace.

The Late Kathleen McAree, R.I.P.
