Feile Oriel 2010.
Feile Oriel, a festival of traditional Irish music and culture, has been revived and was held in Monaghan town over the May Bank Holiday weekend. The weather was quite agreeable to allow outside concerts, busking and sessions in various parts of the town and this attracted a good response from the public to attend. Sessions in Pubs and Hotels were plenty and the quality of the music was top class with many top artists in various disciplines taking part. Multi-cultural events were also part of the programme and these were well attended with good participation and added greatly to the atmosphere. Credit to those responsible for organising this event and it does involve a lot of work, time and energy to make it happen and the town has benefited in many ways from the festival. We have a few photos to give you a flavour of some of the activity so far.
