EMYVALE
Emyvale Cycling Grand Prix 2010.
The Emyvale Cycling Club Grand Prix was held on Sunday, May 23rd and once again this was an outstanding success. Big numbers of competitors entered all sections of this full programme of events and it was run over the now annual course around Tydavnet. Praise must go to the organisers and the huge band of helpers who were involved in implementing this programme for such large numbers from all over Ireland. Speaking to Martin McNally, coach and manager of the Covey Wheelers from Mayo, he said that he was very impressed with the event and congratulated the club on a marvellous day. He was very happy with the course and the marshalling and the facilities for parking and refreshments were top class. The weather was of course excellent though it did sap energy from many riders and a big in-take of liquids was necessary.
The presentations took place after the racing and the sponsors were thanked for their continued support. The main sponsors were: Emyvale and District Credit Union, McQuaid Tyres; Barry McKenna Tractors; Caddens; and Universal Graphics.
A big thank you to the Tydavnet Community Centre for the use of their extensive facilities throughout the day and to the ladies who supplied the very welcome tea and food.
