Marcus and Janet (nee Delaney) Croome and David and Lynn Delaney from Cornwall in England at the Delaney Memorial in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Corracrin on October 29th 2009.
Janet and David are cousins and direct descendants of the Delaney family from Emyvale. Their forebear, John Delaney, was a member of the first ever Monaghan County Council, elected to replace the Grand Juries in 1889. He defeated WU Moutray of Fortsingleton in a straight fight for the Emyvale electoral area by 553 to 93 votes - the biggest margin of victory for any area in the county in those historic elections.
The Delaney home on Main Street, Emyvale, is the present home of Nelius Flynn and family. Back in the 50’s they supplied milk to many of the surrounding households.
