Eamonn McElroy and Benny Connolly U15 Tournament.
Over the past few Friday nights the league part of the now annual Eamonn McElroy and Benny Connolly U15 Tournament has been held at the Emyvale GFC HQ in Tully. Teams from many areas took part and the two finals were held on Friday night November 13th last.
First up was the Eamonn McElroy final between Monaghan Harps and Scotstown. At any level these two teams always serve up a delightful game and this was no exception with both sides giving 100% to claim victory. The sides were very close and little separating them throughout but in the end the Harps took control and went on to win despite the gallant efforts of the Scotstown keeper, Conor Forde. The Harps were then presented with the Eamonn McElroy Memorial Cup by Christopher and Sean Mckenna of Auto McK, the Main Sponsor, presented the trophies.
The second game between Pomeroy and Magheracloone did not provide the expected excitement and although both sides gave a great account of themselves and had some excellent individual displays of skills, the Tyrone side had to yield to the superior power of the South Monaghan club. The Benny Connolly Memorial Cup was presented to David Kirk, the Magheracloone Captain, by Nuala, nee Connolly, and Dylan McKenna.
